What does it mean to be 'radically' inclusive? In order to be radically inclusive, we need to engage in self-reflection and be open to criticism about the way we personally do things, acknowledging our privileges and biases. Being radically inclusive means actively centring the experiences of those who are marginalised and the voices of those unheard in our society, and learning from each other's experiences. It is our responsibility to be curious about any assumptions that may be present in our day to day lives about how people might be experiencing the world and to be constantly open to changing our ways.
At Hedgeways, we take this very seriously, all our courses are designed to be radically inclusive, we do what we can to welcome everyone to the land and we are on a constant journey of learning how to improve accessibility to all.
We currently offer specific courses in hedgelaying and wood splitting for LGBTQIA+ folk, and for women and diverse genders
I offer informative presentations about the historical and ecological importance of hedgerows, including their benefits to both the people and the environment, and best practice management to reap their benefits.
I also offer talks on the importance of land access and diversifying rural spaces from an agroecological and feminist lens.
Contact us if you would like to arrange a talk or presentation.
