Hedgeways is a small land management operation run by Sasha Georgiades (they/them what is this?). Sasha has 6+ years experience in land work with a focus on hedgelaying. At Hedgeways we are passionate about enhancing ecological and social resilience by offering a range of diverse land management services and courses.
Agroecology integrates social and ecological concepts in order to determine the best ways to manage land and resources. Agroecological approaches to land management emerge from the ground up and are context specific, considering what is best practice for the specific land and peoples to which the management applies. Agroecology seeks to optimise the relationships between humans, plants, animals and the environment prioritising reciprocity and avoiding exploitative relationships. An agroecological approach to land management acknowledges that everything is connected and that we cannot look at the management of land as an isolated thing but rather something which affects and is affected by the global system.
"It is no longer possible to look at food, livelihoods, health and the management of natural resources separately. Embracing systems–thinking through holistic approaches is needed to address these complex and interdependent challenges."
